I understand

For such a limited player game, I understand why it should be strict to get into the HOF. If we only have 20 or so regulars, the HOF shouldn't fill up that quickly

I don't make the rules....in these days...becoming undisputed kind of shows dominance...but again, I don't make the rules...just offering opinion

That is too quick and we don't have that many regulars. Once a year is my opinion with it being possible that 0, 1 or up to 3 make it in each year (if they deserve it).

A month is not enough time to determine who deserves it. A year gives time for improvements and domination.

So you're saying to be a HOF'er, you have to dominate for a YEAR?! I think that's a bit too long and i'm almost 100% sure the Fatny didn't dominate that long.

no, my point was not about dominating for a year....I feel an annual HOF induction works best...you may only dominate for 2 months out of that 12 month period...and then possibly be considered a lock for the next induction...but I am saying a year gives time to see who has stood out over the past year and allow for deserving candidates whether you dominated for a month or 6 months...a full year gives the "board" a years worth to look back on

I can say that 95% of the HOFERS can hang with this era easy.

And another thing to add lets remember we had all of these elites playing in one era at one point or another.

I agree...Larry has proven that as long as you have the basic mental and physical skills down, you can be dominant in any era as long as you keep active...

when we see HOFers like Mike Tyson, HTF and Labratory pop up every once in a while...then get beaten by non elites...it is not that they were not great...it is that things HAVE changed and they have not played enough to get used to it...

things have changed in the game that today's fighters have learned to utilize and past greats have not on a daily basis...

I guarantee you, if Sal, MAB, Sugarray, Mike Tyson, Labratory, Greg, Ashton were ALL still playing "consistently" today...getting used to the new changes....the top 10 would look a lot different...

that by no means says that we don't have very good players...we do...however, to say that past greats wouldn't hang in this era is absurd to me...

one mentioned that the game was simpler back then...well simpler doesn't necessarily mean less skill...back then we couldn't depend on a wide left hook to KO our opponent...back then we couldn't depend on wiggling to defend...back then we couldn't walk and duck at the same time...back then, leaning was a bit different....back then fighters were more skilled with output and combinations...today we can take more advantage of defensive tactics...

one isn't better or worse....just different....
Oh wow Unpredictable and Yacoob...

I don't need to do abs at the gym now...hah

Well Greg did more than win some lose some...he did win titles...he did defend...he did beat top HOF players and champions...he did make it a tough night vs A class fighters even if he lost...he just didn't have extremely long runs...

MAB is someone who began like Greg where he was the "thorn"...winning some, losing some...then all of a sudden he took over for a couple of months...Greg never took over, but he was right in the top 1-3 mix...and those top 1-3 were HOF fighters...

I do feel that if Greg is in, so should Jermain Taylor (based on his titles, defenses and run) and possibly sugarray (based on his accomplishment of first Undisputed and Super Champ)
Jermain Taylor - JT should have been in a while ago as well. When Jermain Taylor came along, it was similar to when Fatny came. JT came along and jetted to the top, beating the top players, out boxing my gay style at the time, winning titles and remaining at the top and somewhat dominant for a while.

Sugarray - unfortunately he wasn't as dominant as most HOFers were...however I he was the FIRST to unify the major 3 titles then eventually 4 titles to become the first ever Undisputed Champion and the first ever Super Champion of OB. He had a decent run at that as well.

Greg Haugen - was inducted because he was a very-very good fighter who always gave the top fighters a tough fight. He had great skills, won some, lost some. Greg's skills easily matched some of the greats of this game, however he wasn't as consistent as other HOFers and nor was he dominant. Yet, during his prime, he was always in the top mix and held titles. The reasoning and respect Greg earned to make HOF is because he fought at a time where other top fighters and HOFers were at their peak including myself.

I think JT should have been in over a year ago when he played.

In real sports, athletes not only make it in because they are either dominant, but also because they hold records or both. Here To Fight is in because he was dominant. Labratory is in because he was dominant. I think Jermain Taylor was dominant, though not for as long, but just as much so. Sugarray will always hold that record of being the first to unify the titles when more we added. That takes a great level of dominance (be it brief) and skill. We all know it isn't easy unifying the titles.

It is hard for many to pick out of today's bunch. We really do have some very good fighters today. However it has still been Larry and Fatny (both already HOFers) who have STOOD OUT. Now it is Unstoppable (already a HOFer) and Nigel. So with the many great and improved fighters we have today, it is still 3-4 HOFers and only one non HOFer (Nigel) who is standing out.

Jermain Taylor should be recognized. Sugarray should be recognized. And I don't feel Greg Haugen or anyone should be kicked out of the HOF.
weekdays after 7pm EST for me USA or weekends
I think it is a good idea to give his power rankings a chance on a month to month basis...

however, I wouldn't lock the thread
Wow what has "Birthday" come to these days? Every response is about drinking. I am 24, but I don't even drink. Give me carrot cake, my girlfriend, time with friends and family over drinks any day.

maybe we could have an elite room or somthing like only certain people can go in. and really really advertise ob anywhere and everywhere

It is not a matter of trying to cut out those who can't pay...it is about helping Mikkel keep up with costs of maintaining the game.

Everyone here throws the word advertising around, but it isn't that easy. If you're speaking, spamming forums? Well that is not necessarily "advertising" that would make Mikkel money. The advertising for sponsors either costs money out of his pocket or is simply not so easy to come by.

I think a donation page would be nice. I would donate. He wasn't charging $20 a month either.
It's all prune juice and crackers from here on...

Thanks guys
