Tyrant will once again be hosting an organized tournament that will finish like the last one I hosted.
There are no major gimmicks here. Just good ol' fashioned fists a flyin'!
This tournament will involve active fighters which now include some of the fastest rising new stars of Online Boxing.
Does the new breed have what it takes to take Online Boxing into the future? Or is there plenty of fight left in the ol vet dogs trying to relive past glory?
Some say time will tell... Tyrant says THIS tournament will tell!
---------------PAST TOURNAMENT--------------------
This will run just like the last tournament hosted by Tyrant back in 2005. The great OB ring legend Here To Fight added yet another cap to his greatness by sweeping Tyrant in the finals of a best of 5 series:

*if you click the links in the bracket, each fighter has a description and some fights have result descriptions.
-----------------------------------
Like the last tournament, I will seed the list based on research of rankings and RECENT activity. That means that if old inactive vets decide to return for this, they will not be seeded high as they are not active.

CURRENT OB RANKINGS:

*rankings are just for information, not the deciding factor in seeding. No need to keep reediting your entry post as your ranking changes.
-----------------------------------
PRIZES:
Tournament Winner: Will receive $15 in their paypal account.
Runner Up/Loser of the finals: Will receive $10 in their paypal account.
*If you do not have a paypal account, we will work out something within those values.
-----------------------------------
THE RULES:
1) This tournament is NOT meant to be completed in one day. This COULD take a few days, several days, a week or maybe longer. The purpose is to make sure that all fights happen.
2) Each battle will be a best out of 3. Single fights don't always prove much in a game as freak accidents happen. So whoever comes out the winner of a best out of three regardless of whether it was a lucky KO, a lag jump, or what not deserves to advance in the brackets.
The final battle will be a Best out of 5.
3) It will be up to the fighters to set up fights between each other. By that I am referring to times to fight.
4) YOUR BEST OUT OF THREE FIGHTS *MUST* BE BACK TO BACK!!!!
YOUR BEST OUT OF THREE FIGHTS *MUST* BE BACK TO BACK!!!!
YOUR BEST OUT OF THREE FIGHTS *MUST* BE BACK TO BACK!!!!
That means no tuneups in between fights. I will be checking the records of your fights on the Online Boxing page. The reasoning for this is that some fighters try to avoid finishing up their best out of three by fighting other fighters. I want this tournament to be focused.
If you have ANY fights in between and *IN PROGRESS* best of three set, they will not count and I will request that you guys fight again. The fighter who took it upon himself to fight another fight in between will begin the best out of three "redo" DOWN one fight (0-1).
So if you need tuneup fights, do them BEFORE you begin your next BEST OF 3 set. Don't do tuneups during in progress sets.
We should see
Tyrant W12 Holmes
Holmes W12 Tyrant
Tyrant W12 Holmes
on your records. Not
Tyrant W12 Holmes
Tyrant W12 JoeShmoe
Holmes W12 Tyrant
Tyrant W12 Holmes
You CAN take breaks during a set of three set, but ONLY breaks. You still cannot practice vs other live players on your Tournament name.
5) It IS entirely possible that this tournament could take longer than a week or two as I am planning on 16 total fighters and time zones are different. So just be patient and treat this like it is the Playoffs for the end of the year.
6) Your first round opponents will be selected based on seeding so do not complain about who your first round opponent is. This will NOT be setup on favors. It will be seeded.
*More rules may come. Some are strict because I want the tournament to feel official like a playoff series, or a US Open.
Begin to get your practice in. Get your styles down. Get serious. This is where you fighters want to "TURN IT UP" a notch outside of a title fight.
-----------------------------------
EXTRA NOTES:
-I am not trying to finish this in one or two days. I never believe that works as we all have different schedules and I don't want a bunch of gimmie advancements.

I wouldn't rank him top 3.
There are guys I would rate above him including myself. I am currently training him as I think he has skills to make some future noise. However, right now based on what I have seen in fighting him, I would rate him a generous C+, B-.
He has some work to do.
*btw, is Red Viper getting good these days? I feel like I am missing something? If so, good for him...

Good fighter...but you're not exactly endearing yourself to Mikkel...I think he understands that server has problems...
it is technology...has always had problems from the beginning and may continue to
just roll with the punches my friend...especially when it's free

lol...Donny you cannot do an Confidentiality Agreement over the internet in forums...

Does that mean YOU'RE going to do it or you're asking Mikkel to? lol

So if you were a boxer, you would still fight if your rotator cuff wouldn't allow you to throw an uppercut?
What's with the fatny hate? He's a dominant champion with respectable skills.

Listen Reaper, you are a good fighter. I've said that before. It is just fine to be proud of various wins, but one or two good wins don't define you. You can dominate HTF, Fatny and Larry Holmes all on the same night today. That won't mean much a week from now, a month from now, a year from now.
There are many factors that come into play when determining the better fighter. Factors beyond a single fight.
There are plenty of good, bad and competitive days. Days where I have shut out Larry Holmes over 12 rounds. Winning like 10-11 of those rounds. Days where Larry has shut me out winning 10-11 rounds. Days where we've KOed each other out of luck. Days where we'll slug....ok...well maybe not...but days where we'll jab to close decisions. That has happened with many other great and not so great fighters.
No fighter is unbeatable. But there are fighters that make it pretty tough to handle on a constant basis. Like me beating Fatny today would mean nothing in the long run as I probably wouldn't be able to do it the next 10 times.
Hate to shoot you down like this, but just letting you know. Be proud of your wins, but every great and even borderline great has done more than beat another great fighter a time or two.
I am still proud of a 4th round knockout of HOFer Mike Tyson when he was in his prime on the old graphics 4+ years back (Thanks for the training Under_Dog).
Yet, that doesn't define me...
...especially since he beat my ass in the rematch...lol
|
 |
|
Far as I am concerned, Fatny is a great case for himself moving up more on the all time rankings list as the domination continues...he isn't only beating top fighters and HOFers, but winning 80-90% of the rounds...
he doesn't deserve to have titles stripped from him unless as a result of his opponent's fists...
|
 |
|
On topic...
I wouldn't punish a fighter for being dominant...
If anything, this should make you want to try harder...
I personally wouldn't want a "gimmie" to the title. If I REALLY want to be champ, I will work hard to beat the dominant champion.
